Past Projects

In my last post I mentioned collecting images from past projects; I've got a few for you.  When I manage to track down others, I'll tack them on to the bottom of this entry rather than make a new post every time; I'd rather interest people in what I'm working on, as opposed to completed projects.

The first three images are labels I designed for a fictional energy drink company for gamers.  I named the company LVL+ and created labels for 3 flavors: Boss Fight Blueberry, God Mode Cherry, and Grindfest Grape.

This is one of my older illustrations but it's still one of my favorites.  Her name is Alice and I would like to draw her again some day, but it's likely that'll only happen after I manage to make a functioning time machine.

Last for today, an example of my customized vinyl work.  I work mostly with Munnys by Kidrobot -- this is a Deadpool I made for a guy I was dating at the time.  His ammo belts are hand-sewn; that was a pain to do, I'm not ashamed to admit.  The shoulder pieces are belt leather, while the piece that wraps around his chest is seam binding folded double for stability.  The bullets are toothpick ends I painted gold and then glued/sewed onto the shoulder pieces.  Not pictured is the pair of katanas I made from Sculpy and attached to the back of his ammo belt.

Next time: A look at my latest sewing project, as well as some ideas I'd like to tackle.  I'll be adding on to this entry periodically, so be sure to check back every now and then!

Please Excuse Our Appearance While We Remodel

An odd title for an introductory post, I know.  Welcome to the Hammerstrike Crafting Emporium!  (I may or may not turn this into an actual business enterprise, we'll see).

Pardon the lack of visible projects at present; I'm working on gathering any and all evidence from prior projects as well as current ones.  For those who don't know me, I am a nerd.  A HUGE nerd, all vertical challenges aside.  A little over a year ago, I became a LARPer.  Live Action Role Playing, for you uninitiated folks out there.  I also love comic books, Batman, reading in general, and Nutella.  I'm an amateur artist, writer, seamstress, and handywoman.  If you could see my parents' garage, you'd understand how it'd be impossible to grow up here without learning your way around a power tool or two (or ten).  My parents are big believers in "If you can't find something to fit your needs in the store, make it." and "If it's cheaper to make it, do so."  These tenets have been a large factor in my Do-It-Yourself tendencies.

I've made prints, posters, bookshelves, restored a steamer trunk, refurbished a desk, sewn several costuming items for my LARP character, built a deck, redecorated a living room from top to bottom, customized several vinyl toys (Munnys), and a myriad of other things.  I'm always looking for a new project to try - currently I'm in the midst of altering a modern jacket pattern into something more medieval for my character Bryndis.

I recently purchased a dress form to hang my in-progress projects on, and it's made a world of difference in sizing items and being able to see how it will look when it's finished.  I'm a big visual thinker, so this is a very helpful tool for me to have.

As introductory posts go, this is pretty short; it wouldn't be any fun if you learned all there was to know about me in the very first entry, don't you agree?
